The Decennial Committee on Local Government Efficiency Act was signed into law by Governor Pritzker on June 10, 2022. The law requires local governments in Illinois that levy taxes to form a committee to study and report on local government efficiency.
The committee's duties include studying the local government's:
Governing statutes
Ordinances
Rules
Procedures
Powers
Jurisdiction
Shared services
Intergovernmental agreements
Interrelationships with other local governments and the state
The committee is required to meet at least three times and shall create a report for the district with recommendations for improving the local government's efficiency.
