Safe Battery Disposal

Battery Recycling Now Available

Inverness Fire Protection District is now a designated drop‑off site for household battery recycling. We accept most rechargeable and single‑use batteries weighing 11 pounds or less, including alkaline (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V), lithium primary, coin and button cells, lithium‑ion, Ni‑Cd, Ni‑MH, Ni‑Zn, and small sealed lead‑acid batteries, as well as cellphones of any make or model. To ensure safe handling, please tape the terminals of all batteries with clear tape and separate any damaged or swollen batteries from non‑damaged ones. We do not accept wet cell (automotive) batteries.

The image outlines three steps to safely turn in batteries: tape terminals, make a return plan, and drop them off.
